Hello blog

Hello blog I haven't seen you for a while. I've been volunteering/interning/working full-time at MSF UK for the last few months, learning new skills and lots more about the awesome humanitarian work they do. Most of my job has been on the website so when I get home in the evenings the last thing I've wanted to do is look at the internet. I've got a small hiatus before something else begins, so I'll be doing a spot of catching up. I haven't knitted much either, (blame the Game of Thrones book series for that) but I have done some knitting. © Clare Storry These are p/hop samples of one of my favourite sock patterns, Molly Weasley's gift socks . I really like knitting these (this is my second pair) as the pattern is easy to memorise, making them very portable, but there are a couple of interesting parts which makes them interesting to knit too. They are the Vikkel braid just after the cuff and the eye-of-the-partridge heel. I have no idea...

Windy Snow

We spent last weekend in Hastings with a group of friends. It was rather wintry so we didn't make it to the battle site but did stroll along the beach. I'd given a couple of friends Cranford Mitts I'd made as part of the p/hop Mitt-a-long which went down well, though I ended up borrowing one pair which makes me a bad gift giver. Here you are, lovely bespoke mittens, which I will immediately take back and use. I made these Cranfords using some Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino which I p/hopped last month along with some from my stash. The mittens are slightly different in colour due to different dyelots but I think I'm the only person who has noticed. The brown edging is a wool/silk blend mystery yarn from my friend Montyknits , I suspect it is Blue Sky Alpaca yarn. A lot of Hastings seemed rather forlorn in a run down British seaside way, like a forgotten favourite teddy bear left on a shelf. The pier had burnt down which added to the post apocalyptic feel. I did admire th...

Lovely jubbly arty farty

Today was one of those lovely feel good days. A fellow Raveler, TheKnittingNurse , contacted me a few weeks ago as she was running out of a certain yarn for her sock project and through the magic of Ravely asked me if she could buy the leftover yarn I had in my stash. After some dithering I decided I wouldn't use the yarn up and giving it away would help reduce the size of my ridiculous stash. I'd met her briefly at a knitting event last year and we decided to meet for lunch. We went to an excellent Thai restaurant in Pimlico (I think it's called the Thai Cafe and is on the corner of Tachbrook Street and Charlwood Street, the food was excellent and good value for money) and got on very well. We share quite a few interests, as well as knitting and it's always good to find new friends. I didn't want any money for the yarn as it really wasn't worth much so she's going to make a donation to p/hop , the knitting-fund-raising arm of Medecins Sans Frontieres UK. ...
